Beryllium Copper (C17200) Pins: Start With a Material Source That Can Certify It

Video measuring machine used for sample inspection, with the timeline for C17200 beryllium copper pins: certified material source within 3 days, drawing confirmed the next day, samples with report in 15 days

Short answer: For pins in an uncommon copper alloy such as UNS C17200 beryllium copper, the first question is the material: can the supplier get it with a material certificate? Settle that before the drawing and the sample schedule. Once the material is certain, the rest of the job moves quickly.

The case: a pin in a copper alloy nobody could supply

A customer asked us for copper pins and pointed out that the material was not a common copper alloy. They had spent a long time looking and had not found a supplier who could provide it. With the inquiry they sent a detailed material specification: UNS C17200.

Within three days we found a source that could supply C17200 with a material certificate. The customer was satisfied and asked for samples quickly.

From material to samples

  1. We drew the part and confirmed the drawing with the customer the next day.
  2. The customer paid for samples the following day, and we sent a sample schedule with the date of each step.
  3. The samples were ready in 15 days and went out with an inspection report and photos.

The result

The customer was satisfied with the samples and the report, and placed the production order straight away without a separate round of sample approval.

Shipping needed one more step. The customer’s own freight forwarder could not find a suitable route, so we recommended one that could deliver in 10 to 20 days, about half a month sooner.

What to settle first with an uncommon material

  • The material and its certificate. Name the grade by its standard designation, such as UNS C17200, and ask for the certificate with the samples.
  • The drawing, agreed by both sides before sampling. It is the first condition for delivery.
  • How the samples will be checked, and which report comes with them.
  • A second shipping route if your usual forwarder cannot handle the shipment.

If you need pins or turned parts in an uncommon alloy, send the material grade and drawing through our RFQ form. We will check the material source first and tell you what certificate comes with it.
