How It Works

A custom hex bolt is designed for assemblies where the installer can access the head with a wrench or socket and apply the required tightening torque directly. The head provides the drive interface, while the threaded portion creates the clamping force that holds the joint together. Depending on the application, the unthreaded grip length, underhead support, and thread engagement can be developed to improve fit, reduce unwanted movement, and match the actual load condition of the assembly.

Advantages

  • Larger bearing surface
This helps spread the clamping load over a larger surface and reduces the risk of local indentation, surface damage, or pull through
on softer or thinner mating parts.
  • Compact head with functional drive
It is useful where tool access is limited, where repeated installation is needed, or where the joint must be tightened more reliably
than with a plain round head.

Industry Applications

Sheet metal assemblies

Used in covers, brackets, housings, and mounting plates where the head needs to hold thin material more securely and reduce surface deformation during tightening.

Furniture and hardware fittings

Suitable for functional joints, brackets, connectors, and concealed or semi concealed hardware where a low profile head with a wider seating area is preferred.

Automotive or industrial mounting points

Can be used in non heavy duty fastening locations where parts need to be fixed securely against vibration, repeated service, or alignment sensitive assembly conditions.
